The Jersey Gilbert and Sullivan Society
The Society was very pleased to be asked to entertain at one of the Georgetown Methodist Church Thursday concerts and this took place on Thursday 20th October. To a near capacity audience, the programme comprised songs from the various shows, sung by a variety of our soloists and the G&S chorus. Annette Blanchet directed the rehearsals over the previous weeks leading up to the concert and also conducted the singers on the evening. Michael Blackie introduced the various songs and acquainted the audience with anecdotes and the background to the relationship between W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.
We were very fortunate to have Jane Silvester, who stood in at short notice as our accompanist and she clearly enjoyed the evening as much as we did
Altogether, it was a very successful and entertaining evening, as the audience reaction demonstrated at the end of the concert.
